El Gouna

Egypt

About the trip

25 kilometers north of Hurghada lies the unique and modern resort of El Gouna, designed by a renowned architect for an exceptional Egyptian getaway. There’s hardly any water sport you can’t try in El Gouna – a wide selection of activities on the water has become the trademark of this Egyptian resort. Besides ideal conditions for kiteboarding, you’ll find plenty of greenery, cozy winding streets, separate areas designed for strolls, Venetian-style architecture exuding an Italian atmosphere, and water canals flowing through the entire city. If there happen to be a few windless days, El Gouna offers just as many activities on land. For example, horseback riding in the desert, the opportunity to test your skills at a professional golf course or tennis courts, riding a motorcycle or jeep in the dunes, or thrilling races at the karting track.

Those seeking relaxation and pampering can do so in the SPA centers, of which El Gouna has many to offer. All of this is available so that you can enjoy a European-style vacation on the shores of the Red Sea in an exceptional environment. Gourmets will be delighted with the multitude of restaurants and cafes, while nightlife enthusiasts will find plenty of bars and nightclubs.

About the kiteboarding center

The WindTrain school operates between two bays, situated precisely where the best wind gathers, providing a consistent side-onshore wind.

The training and advanced zones are distinctly separated, ensuring no interference between different skill levels. There are no significant hazards in the water except for some sharper rocks, so it’s recommended to have proper footwear.

You can rent all necessary kiteboarding equipment on-site. For added convenience, facilities include a restaurant, showers, equipment storage, a massage area, and various other activities.

World-class school standards

All “WindTrain” instructors hold International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) instructor qualifications and follow a regularly updated international methodology to ensure safety and maximum progress in the shortest time possible for students. Upon completion of the course, participants receive a globally recognized certificate.

Additionally, for those interested in exploring and changing the setting, day trips by boat are organized to uninhabited islands, offering ideal conditions to progress. On windless days, boat trips to the sea, such as dolphin watching, can also be organized.

FAQ

Do I need to have my own wetsuit?

All the necessary equipment is provided during lessons, including wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, kites, boards, and more. Please bring your water booties to keep your feet safe from the sharp shells.

Can I bring family or friends who don’t kite?

Absolutely! Our schools are located in places where non-kiters will surely find something active to do or simply relax. The majority of WT trips are to warm destinations where your family can relax by the pool, enjoy delicious food, or take various excursions. Let’s not forget that we always recommend great dining spots, and you’ll find many friendly people around.

We offer lessons for beginners and advanced learners – basic tricks, transitions, and more. So, we believe that after seeing how fun it is, your friends or family will also want to try kiteboarding.

Will there be things to do if there is no wind?

Over the past ten years we have selected the best and most attractive places that are not only suitable for learning kiteboarding but also offer a variety of activities. During the trips, you’ll enjoy delicious food and great parties. Most of these locations offer plenty of other active pursuits, so if there’s a lack of wind for a few days, you definitely won’t get bored.

What do I need to bring or prepare for kiteboarding lessons?

You’ll just need a towel and a smile! We recommend bringing your own water booties to keep your feet safe from the sharp shells. Windtrain will provide all the rest what is necessary equipment for kiteboarding lessons.

Do you need any special preparation to start kiteboarding?

Certainly not. Kiteboarding is for everyone. It can be enjoyed by children, as well as by elderly, without any age limitations.

Will there be wind and what kites should I bring?

Statistically, the wind blows at 5-15 m/s, 60% of days (even more during May-September) so we recommend having both large and small kites. If you run short on equipment during the trip, we can always offer rentals.

Can you offer a full package of a trip?

Yes! We will take care of everything: the trip, accommodation, and, of course, kiteboarding lessons and other activities. However, if you prefer to travel independently, we’ll always help however we can.
