Akyaka

Turkiye

During over a decade of ‘WindTrain’ travels, we have explored and selected the best and most attractive places to learn kiteboarding. We are the first and currently the only International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) certified traveling kiteboarding school in the world. This status means the opportunity to teach the intricacies of kiteboarding in different parts of the world throughout the year.

Pack your bags for kiteboarding paradise – Akyaka.

Amongst verdant mountains, along the Aegean Sea coastline, yet away from hustle and tourist crowds. Welcome to Akyaka, Turkiye! Undoubtedly, it is one of the best places globally to learn kiteboarding and grow your skills. Here, not only will you rest your mind with the kite but also unwind from the city bustle.

Akyaka is located in the Gulf of Gokova, a seaside town with just over two thousand inhabitants. It promotes a slow-paced lifestyle, allowing you not only to spend active time on the water but also to relax away from home peacefully, escaping from everyday life and getting to know a completely different side of Turkey.

For your convenience, you can rent all the kiteboarding equipment you need on-site. You can choose from simple and easily controllable kites suitable for beginners to advanced C-shaped kites for freestyle enthusiasts. In case of lighter winds, we can provide larger kites, so you won’t waste your vacation time waiting for perfect wind conditions.

Beginners and advanced

The conditions for learning kiteboarding in Akyaka are perfect. The wind ‘switches on’ like clockwork at 12 p.m. and ‘switches off’ at the end of the workday, allowing everyone time to relax before the next day. Consistent wind and professional WindTrain instructors – everything you need to tame the kite and wind in just one trip.

All WindTrain instructors hold IKO instructor qualifications and follow an international methodology that is constantly updated, safe, and designed to help students achieve maximum progress in the shortest time. All students who complete the course receive a certificate confirming their achievement, valid worldwide.

There’s something for everyone in Akyaka, not just beginners but also experienced kiteboarders. Progress camps are organized here with multiple-time Lithuanian champion Laurynas JuodeÅ¡ka, as well as world-class coaches like Marek Rowinski, Fabio Ingrosso, and others who coach today’s world champions and emerging athletes. During these progress camps, anyone beyond the beginner level will learn new tricks, jumps, and perhaps even more advanced maneuvers from some of the best in the field.

The destination

Located in the verdant valley, Akyaka’s bay area is known for its consistent thermal winds. Typically, winds ranging from 6-9 m/s start blowing around 11-12 in the morning, allowing to enjoy kiteboarding until sunset.

The average air temperature in July and August reaches around 32 degrees Celsius, while in September and October, it tends to stay around 30 degrees Celsius. The bay features a long, wide, and shallow coastline, free from tall buildings or trees. Akyaka town is surrounded by seven rivers flowing into the sea, ensuring exceptionally clear and blue waters in the area.

ADVICE ON MAGICAL LOCAL PLACES

Important!

Only kiteboarders with at least a Level 2 IKO card are allowed to rent equipment independently. If you don’t possess one, a ‘WindTrain’ instructor will assess your skills and make a decision. This system is designed to ensure both the safety of our clients and proper equipment usage. All gear is rented on a personal basis, so the client is responsible for its condition upon return and must compensate for any damages, if present.
